Well it was off to Tabletop Nation for the Star Wars Day Regional X-Wing comp. hideous start to the day as the car failed its force pool roll but Richard Cook and I made it there just in time.
I was determined to take my favourite characters in a two ship list. Now this was never ever going to win but hey, it was Star Wars day and it had to be done. Han, Luke, Chewie in the Falcon with Wedge and R2D2 in an X-Wing. It just cried out original Saga - and that was the intention.

Imperial swarm lists seemed to be the order of the day. Large amounts of fire power that can be concentrated, forgiving on individual mistakes. The guy that won was running 7 ties.
Going to write a detailed report of the day but needless to say I had a brilliant time. Only got one dicky opponent, the other 3 were wonderful.
I'm just happy I had fun with the list. A big callout to Stuart at TTN for an excellent day.
Today saw a switch to testing the new Mantic Kickstarter game 'Deadzone'. While I can't see me plummeting in for the kickstarter (due to lack of funds rather than not wanting to) the rules are very useable with the figures I have (of all sorts). Played on a 3" gridded board who h itself is only 2' square the rules are smooth and fast.

Using Dreadballesque dice pool opposed rolls (but with d8 this time) the mechanics work well for an alpha set. Cover is handled well as is suppressive fire. You need to use the 'steadfast' card to keep the better troops from being pinned to easily.
Over all the rules have great potential for easy small skirmish games. Will try them out on people at the club.
