Always on the lookout for rules to use with my Afghan figures I bought a new set from NZ called Skirmish Sangin. They promised to be quick play with enough detail for players to have only a couple of characters each, This meant that it would fall below the level of my Hearts & Minds expansion for Flying Lead. This was good as I was thinking special forces semi role play. Also I kind of hate playing my rules for enjoyment as it always feels like work, continually thinking how I can make them better!
Basically d10 and percentage dice based the games a 1:1 grounds scale small area skirmish. You will not be used to the damage radius of some of the explosions. No ranges on the weapons as the playing area is likely to in the under 120m range. Wounds make the character less effective and a nice touch is the consciousness roll. In some cases you do not want them conscious and screaming because of the morale effect.
There is not a lot of character detail prescribed skill wise etc although this is easy to run off the body stat and troop type. For instance an elite times their body stat (between 10 and 20) by 5 as where an average troop type times it by 3.
Certainly will be playing again.
